Definitely A Journey - Sunday Favorites

took a journey a while back and on
the same day I posted a little bit of my own trip to town. She visited my post
and noticed that, ironically enough, we both took a journey the same day and she
commented that we must have been on the same wavelength. Mine was only one
little bit of where I was going and we thought maybe I should take a 'whole'
journey like she did.
I really liked what she implied when she did this. Are
we just going to a destination? Or are we going to take a journey and notice
things along the way, take time to stop and smell the roses, slow down and enjoy
some of life headed down the road.
I decided to take my journey when taking
my little 'garden helpers' home. I know it's going to look a little like a
wildlife tour but actually anytime I pull out of my driveway it's like that
around here because it's just where we live. You won't see a lot of flowers
blooming on this journey because it's still a little early but you will see some
wildlife, cute carvings, signs and garden art (our area style). So here we
go.

Aren't these little guys (sheep) adorable? They are my neighbors down the hill - easy
to get along with, no loud parties, just alot of grass eating.
And these are their neighbors - equally as easy to get along with.
This swamp will have what I believe are wild yellow irises blooming before long.
All the the grassy things you can see in the picture are them coming up I think.
If that’s the case you can see there will be hundreds (thousands?) of
them.
A mini mart down the road - believe it or not we can even order pizza out here
in the boonies now. And anything else we want them to deliver.
I guess this guy guards the mini mart.
A pond next to the road where my littlest guy kept saying he saw ducks but we saw
nothing.
Until we pulled a little farther forward there were his 'ducks' geese.
To the left is a river with a railroad tressel going over.

In the fall this is the prettiest stretch of road with all of the trees in fall
colors. Loads of ferns growing on the bank to the right.

And ahead a ways off to the right is a waterfall that looks like it’s coming right
on to the road.

Then ya can rent a boat and go fishing.

This Blue Heron is usually hanging out right here.

Just before we get to where we are going is a campground and the animals seem to like
it because we saw quite a few inside the fence.

Spotted a little duck . . .

Then realized they were a happy little couple on their way to take a dip.

All together now.

That was exhausting guess we’ll rest for a few.

My journey was much more enjoyable when I took the time to notice the beauty along
the way.

A Few Things For Fertilizer Friday

I love the wine colored Periwinkle or Vinca Minor.

This is the lavender color - I suppose experts call it blue but it's not - it's
lavender.
Thes little Violas (Johnny Jump Ups) have decided to jump into the yard. The
only place I see them is in the grass - guess I'll have to go dig them up.
I believe this is a weed growing in the grass but not for sure so I'm letting it
go until it blooms.

The tub is finally getting some spring color.

This is one tough little flower. It has lived in a raised bed way up at the back
of the yard. Every year it has been chewed off by some critter. It has never
bloomed and frankly I'm surprised it's still alive after all of the years of
nibbling. I've probably had it around 6 or 7 years maybe more. I finally moved
it down right off of the deck fall before last. Last summer it grew very nicely
and didn't get chewed for the first time in it's life but it didn't bloom. If
you'll look closely you can see color coming in those buds. I am very excited
about this as I have no idea what it will look like. It's called Thalictrum
aquilegifolium and they describe it as 'Columbine like' which the leaves do look
just like a Columbine. It's also called Meadow Rue.

What is it about red that I can never get a clear picture? This is one of my 3
wild Huckleberry bushes just loaded with buds.

Another Vinca where I mixed them together for a different look.

Cyclamen - not blooming but I just love the foliage on this.

Heuchera Snow Angel

This Heuchera looked like this all winter and all this time I thought it was Plum
Pudding (my favorite) and the ticket says Licorice. Guess I have a runner up
favorite.

Went To Town To Find Some Blooms - Sunday Favorites

I had to take my computer into town the other day for some
repairs and decided that since nothing was blooming up here at my place I'd take
some pictures down below so I'd have some color to enjoy. Being up higher my
flowers bloom a couple of weeks behind everyone else. I had to drop a couple of
antiques off at the shop and across the street was this nice color spot I
thought I'd start off with. Love the ivy going up the old brick building.

I couldn't resist this one - what a beautiful picture. It was a little too far
away for me to see what the pink was blooming with the yellow daffodils.Nice little Weeping Pussywillow tree I think. I love the trunk.
Now this one still looked brown, I'm just not sure and didn't want to walk over
to it and be too obvious (like I wasn't obvious sitting there taking pictures).
But I will definitely check back to see what colors will be happening in that
show.
On my way home not too far from my place I saw this great picture - well it
would have been great had they been a little closer and the car engine didn't
have the slightest vibration, just enough to keep it a little blury. I know it
isn't of flowers but I thought you'd enjoy seeing it.

This is the biggest of about 3 different herds I see coming home and probably has
between 100 and 150 elk so it's hard to get a picture of all of them when they
are so spread out.

When I got even closer to home, about a block away I saw another herd but
they were a little bit too far away to get any pictures
